George Russell: It's still difficult to draw conclusions about speed

George Russell clocked the second time on the first day of tests in Bahrain. The Mercedes racer separately stressed that it is impossible to draw conclusions about the balance of power based on the results of one day.

His teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli completed the morning session and said that he liked the new W16 car.

George Russell (2nd): "It was a good first day of testing behind the wheel of the W16 - we started to get to know the car better. Everything went smoothly, and we were able to complete the planned program, despite the power outage during the afternoon session!

Only the first day, which was spent in cool conditions atypical for Bahrain, is behind us. In such a situation, it is difficult to draw any conclusions about speed. We're just happy with the work we did today and we're looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow."

Andrea Kimi Antonelli (7th): "My first morning at the tests is over. The session turned out to be productive. I enjoyed driving the W16, and we were able to work on our own program.

It's great to start getting comfortable in the car and drive the first laps. The team has completed the planned program, but there is still a lot to be done in the remaining two days. I can't wait to get back on the track on Thursday."
