They went out: We are in a better position than we were a year ago.
Pierre Gasly finished the first day of pre-season testing on the 6th line of the protocol, and Jack Duane, his new team-mate, was on the 14th, but it's too early to draw any conclusions, because "everything is just beginning."
Pierre Gasly (6th): "The first day of testing is over! Jack worked on the track in the morning, I worked in the afternoon, and we worked quite productively. We drove a lot of laps, carried out a lot of different kinds of checks, and the first impressions of the car are not bad.
When I need her to turn right, she turns that way, and when I turn the steering wheel to the left, she goes that way – it's always good! (laughs) Seriously, it feels good, the car reacted correctly to all the settings changes, and we managed to do a lot.
I would say that we are in a more favorable position than we were a year ago. It seems that we are starting the season from the level we were at last December in Abu Dhabi - at the same time, the car has a lot of potential that has yet to be revealed. But overall, I'm happy with the results of the day, and I can't wait to get back behind the wheel tomorrow morning."
Jack Duane (14th): "I just completed the first session of pre-season testing: everything was successful, the car is working well, and it's wonderful. I am very grateful to everyone who works at Enstone and Weary for all their work over the winter.
Now our task is to get the right speed from the A525, and things are progressing well. Everything is just beginning, and I will be back behind the wheel tomorrow afternoon, but in the meantime I will carefully observe how Pierre is working on the track."
