Russell: Speed came from somewhere on the last lap.

George Russell confirmed his reputation as a specialist on the Montreal track and will start the Canadian Grand Prix from pole for the third consecutive year. Kimi Antonelli showed the second-best result, losing to his teammate by just 0.068 seconds.

George Russell (1st): "After Saturday's sprint, there are always challenges to overcome, as the feeling behind the wheel in qualifying is quite different. We made a number of changes to the setup, and we still need to analyze whether we chose the right direction.

Of course, on the last lap, speed suddenly appeared from somewhere, and that was very pleasing at the end of a rather challenging session. It was just a matter of putting everything together, and that last lap turned out incredibly well!

We adjusted the setup based on the weather forecast for tomorrow. Perhaps this made our task in qualifying a bit more difficult, and it seems that the car's balance is not quite what it should be. Kimi and I weren't as noticeably ahead of everyone in this session compared to yesterday, and my teammate was definitely faster than me. It wasn't easy, but as I said, on the last lap, I managed to change my driving style – and everything came together as it should.

After the sprint, Kimi and I had a good chat – we are both professional drivers and know what needs to be done. We compete, but we also respect each other. Moreover, today we saw that everyone else is also capable of showing great speed.

It looks like we are in for rainy weather tomorrow, and that will be yet another new challenge. However, to be honest, we are not thinking about that right now. We just want to do everything to get to the top of the podium."

Kimi Antonelli (2nd): "This weekend, it's very challenging to achieve effective tire performance, to heat the tires to the right temperature, but overall I am satisfied with my result. Of course, I could have gone a bit faster, but George showed excellent speed, and now we need to start preparing for tomorrow's race.

Let's see what the weather will be like, but of course, we will try to be ready for any developments."
