Toto Wolff: It was a very interesting movie!

The sprint in Montreal confirmed the correctness of those who predicted that the rivalry between the Mercedes drivers would soon escalate into a fierce confrontation, and after the finish of Saturday's sprint, Toto Wolff commented on this.

"It was a very interesting movie! – the head of Mercedes shared cheerfully in an interview with Sky Sports. – The rivalry was sharp, and I’m not just talking about our drivers, but also about their battle with Lando Norris. I really enjoyed watching all of this.

The situation on the track changed very quickly; at first, our cars managed to break away from the rest of the pack, but when teammates start battling each other, there’s a risk of losing the victory in the race. If it had gone on a little longer, luck could have turned away from us, and Norris would have won.

But I also liked our drivers' comments after the finish because it will allow us to draw the necessary lessons and think about how to act in this situation now and in the future. We don’t want to lose victories in races; we want to avoid unnecessary pressure, and sometimes such moments serve as a reminder of the goals we have ahead of us.

It’s not about us planning to deal with Kimi or George with particular severity, but we want to set certain boundaries. And I prefer that all of this happens during the sprint when there are not as many points at stake as in the main race of the weekend.

I don’t want the start of the fifth stage of the season to be accompanied by headlines in the style of "Star Wars" or talks of escalating tension, because that’s not the case. Kimi is a young driver, and he is overflowing with emotions. George would probably act exactly the same way in his place – in general, we will analyze everything and decide how to act."
