Saturday in Canada was unsuccessful for Aston Martin, but the team remains optimistic…
Fernando Alonso (19th): “I have always enjoyed racing in Canada, and this weekend we are clearly in better shape than before. We have made a few small steps in the right direction, but the car is still not fast enough to make it into the second part of qualifying.
In the sprint, I retired due to contact in the first corner. If it rains tomorrow, it will be interesting – we haven't raced these cars in the rain yet. If the track gets wet, the grip level will surely be very low. Everyone is in for a tough race tomorrow, but let's see what we can do.”
Lance Stroll (21st): “A challenging day. In the sprint, I started from the pit lane after the mechanics discovered a suspension issue on the grid in the morning. In qualifying, I didn't feel confident in the car due to a lack of grip, which prevented me from really attacking.
Rain is expected tomorrow, which could change the balance of power a bit and possibly help cars with less downforce.”
