Oliver Berman: We need to get more from the machine
At Haas F1, they expected more from the almost home Canadian weekend for the team, but they couldn't get the car to work with the low downforce settings...
Oliver Berman (16th): "On Friday, we decided to break the parc fermé conditions and experiment with the settings. Upon closer analysis of the data, we noticed some unexpected features and behavior of the car, tried to find the cause, and slightly deviated from the previous settings, but we haven't been able to make significant progress yet. We need to find a way to improve the car's efficiency.
In qualifying, the balance in the corners improved, I felt more confident, and we started to attack more actively – and block the tires. I hope it rains on Sunday and we get some chances."
Esteban Ocon (17th): "The distance covered in the sprint allowed us to gather some information, now we need to understand how to get more from the car. We have obvious issues with pace, balance, brakes – there are several areas we need to work on.
We completely changed the settings before qualifying, it was not easy to feel it – we had only three or four laps to adapt. I was trying to figure out where the grip improved and where it got worse, but it was very difficult to correlate everything. We continue to work, let's see what we can achieve tomorrow."
