Science: We are capable of reaching the prize top ten.
Carlos Sainz showed only the 15th result in Saturday's qualifying in Montreal, but his position is still somewhat better than that of his teammate, who couldn't even make it to the second session. Alex Albon explained this by saying that he doesn't feel confident in the car.
Carlos Sainz (15th): "Unfortunately, we only showed the 15th time. It seems that, unlike yesterday's qualifying for the sprint and the sprint itself, today we couldn't replicate that pace. Our rivals were faster than us on the soft tires, but we couldn't show everything we were capable of at the crucial moment.
On the last fast lap, I couldn't warm up the tires, which cost us one or two tenths in just the first sector, and that cost us two or three positions. I think if we had completed a good lap, we should have moved up to 11th or 12th position.
Now it's important to analyze what could have been done better, but in any case, we have something to fight for in tomorrow's race. Moreover, the forecast promises rain, and our task is to try to reach the top ten. I believe we can do it."
Alex Albon (18th): "I just couldn't put everything together. It doesn't matter why it happened – whether it's my fault, or the hybrid system wasn't delivering energy effectively enough, or something else got in the way – the fact is that we didn't perform well in qualifying. It's frustrating.
I don't feel confident in the car, I don't understand how it will behave in different situations. Also, I don't know why we went out on the track so early, before everyone else, so we couldn't take advantage of the gradually improving track conditions."
