Lewis Hamilton: I did not exceed the speed.

Lewis Hamilton: I did not exceed the speed.

Lewis Hamilton finished second in Monaco, but was even more pleased with Kimi Antonelli's latest victory…

Question: Lewis, the winner of this race, Kimi Antonelli, replaced you at Mercedes, and now at 19 years old, he has won five races in a row. How good is he?

Lewis Hamilton: I don't know what else to say that I haven't already said in the past. Kimi is doing an amazing job. He has a fantastic environment: Bono, Toto, and the whole team. And I'm really happy for them that they are doing so well. The level he is showing right now is just incredible. It motivates me to perform better, and everyone else too.

He is only 19, just imagine what awaits him in the future. But I will do everything I can to catch up with him by the end of the year. And as I said, it is truly a great honor to witness this, to stand on the podium with two of the youngest drivers. They remind me a lot of myself back in 2007.

Question: This weekend she [Kim Kardashian] came to support you…

Lewis Hamilton: Yes, it's great that she came this weekend and supported me, along with my other friends, and just an incredible number of people. I don't know what else to say. It's amazing when you are surrounded by good people who support you, and she does that for me every day.

Question: During the race, you received a penalty for speeding in the pit lane. Many drivers called these penalties unfair after the finish. Were you surprised to receive a penalty? What happened there?

Lewis Hamilton: I wasn't speeding. I think it's just a peculiarity of the pit lane in Monaco. I've been racing here for so many years, and you can't say that I attacked and didn't hit the button – nothing like that. The speed limiter in the pit lane engages immediately. I think it’s just about the trajectory you choose, but it's the same trajectory we've all been choosing for many years, crossing part of the white line.

I was shocked to learn that I had exceeded the speed limit because I hadn't. On Sunday, an unusually high number of drivers received this penalty. They probably didn't break any rules either. Unfortunately, a five or ten-second stop in the pits completely takes away your chances of success on this short track. So I don't know how to deal with that.

Question: Lewis, you matched Senna's achievement for the number of podiums at this track, but he has six victories in Monaco. Will you be able to match that achievement too?

Lewis Hamilton: I've been racing in Formula 1 for a long time, but I'm not at his level in that regard yet. But I keep racing – and I strive for that goal. You know, to equal him in the number of podiums is already very cool. I remember well how in my youth I watched Ayrton's races; he remains my favorite driver. So it's really great.
