Jenson Button's Brawn GP BGP001 to be sold at auction

Jenson Button's Brawn GP BGP001 to be sold at auction

The legendary BGP001, on which Jenson Button won the championship title in 2009 in the Brawn GP, will go under the hammer at the Bonhams auction. According to the contract, chassis #01 after the end of the season received for personal use Jenson Button, chassis #02 went to the team manager Ross Brawn, and motor suppliers from Mercedes received chassis #03. Initially, Mercedes offered Button to make a copy for him, saying that there are no free chassis, as for the season they produced a limited number of them. This was the reason for a lawsuit, but the issue was resolved before the court - and Button got his car. There are some questions about the BGP001/01 chassis being sold: official records state that Jenson won the title in Brazil driving the BGP001/02 chassis. In any case, chassis 001, on which Button won most of his victories in 2009, is the only car Brawn GP, put up for auction. The auction will take place on May 3.
