Oscar Piastri: I'm more or less happy with how things are going.
The cold weather, which is unusual for the local climate, affects the work of all teams at the tests in Bahrain, and McLaren is no exception. Oscar Piastri, among others, admits that not everything is going according to plan because of this. But at least the weather is better today, and the Australian driver will replace Lando Norris at the wheel of the MCL39 in the afternoon.
"I don't think anyone expected it to rain in Bahrain," Oscar said in an interview with Sky Sports. "It hindered our work a little yesterday, but still we were able to achieve a lot and this afternoon we will try to do more laps. So overall, everything is going well.
Overall, the team is happy, we have been doing numerous checks first, the work is progressing normally, and now we have a fairly clear idea of how the car reacts to certain settings changes, which is very important before the start of the season."
If we talk about the pace, I don't know yet what level we are at, it's difficult to judge. Things were good on some laps, worse on others. But anyone can say the same thing, so overall we have a confident attitude."
When Oscar was asked to comment on his team-mate's specific complaints about the MCL39, which lacks stability in the rear, he replied: "In my opinion, the car is already behaving better, but racers always complain about the equipment, this is normal.
Of course, we are trying to deal with a number of issues, although I don't think there are any problems that could cause serious concern. I repeat, I'm more or less happy with how things are going.
Today I will try to continue working on improving the balance of the car, and, of course, I will try to add a little. The most important thing is to do more laps to make up for the lost time yesterday."
