Yuki Tsunoda can replace Liam Lawson already at Suzuka
Liam Lawson's poor start to the season has led Red Bull Racing to seriously consider replacing the New Zealand driver with Yuki Tsunoda at the next stage in Suzuka, and Franco Colapinto is rumored to take Yuki's place at Racing Bulls.
According to Racingnews365, the final decision has not yet been made, but will be discussed in the coming days at an emergency meeting in Milton Keynes, which gathers the leadership of the team. After the finish of the race in Shanghai, Christian Horner, when asked by the press about Lawson's replacement at the Japanese Grand Prix, evaded a direct answer, but did not deny the very possibility of a replacement.
"There will always be speculation in the paddock,– said Christian Horner. – We have just finished, so the team will have to study all the information collected. No specific decisions have been made. At the moment, such conversations are pure speculation. Liam has potential, but he doesn't realize it.
I won't even comment on the replacement, as my words will immediately make headlines. There are only two races left."
At the same time, the Spanish press adds fuel to the fire of rumors, reporting that Red Bull held preliminary talks with representatives of Franco Colapinto about a contract with Racing Bulls. It is assumed that it will be the Argentine racer who will drive Yuki Tsunoda's car if it is decided to replace Lawson.
However, such a scenario seems unlikely, since traditionally Red Bull preferred to transfer drivers from the main team to the sister team rather than firing them. This was the case with Daniil Kvyat and Pierre Gasly. It is possible that Liam Lawson will repeat their fate.
