Piastri: Thanks to the team for the great car!

Oscar Piastri started the Spa weekend well – he won the sprint qualifying, nearly half a second ahead of his closest rival, Max Verstappen. Lando Norris, his McLaren teammate, posted the third fastest time.

Oscar Piastri (1st): "It was a good lap! Honestly, I got a bit nervous when they removed the timing for my lap in the second session, but our car works great throughout the day. I feel like I managed to complete many good laps. Thanks to the team for a fantastic car!

I really like this track, it's actually my favorite. Maybe that's why I managed to gain a few tenths. Driving here is always a pleasure! But even better when the car has excellent handling – that was the case today.

I don't know what gives me confidence behind the wheel, but from the very first lap, the car was working as it should, and I could rely on it completely. I have a feeling that lately, our pace has been solid, even if the results don’t fully reflect that. But today, the result was pleasing.

Red Bull's car is very fast on the straights – at least, that was the case during practice. That will make things challenging for us, especially since Spa is probably the worst track for a pole start! But since our car is capable of an excellent pace, and I felt comfortable behind the wheel today, we hope tomorrow will go well too."

Lando Norris (3rd): “I think I wasn’t fast enough today. The lap I completed wasn’t the best, and I lost quite a bit of time compared to pole. However, I’m not too upset because it’s only the sprint, so there’s no need for major concern, although we still need to work on some areas.

Overall, it’s only Friday, so I’m not worried, though I can’t say I’m particularly happy, as I’d like to show higher speed. Still, we just need to do some work, and that’s all.”
