Piastri: Lando and I are competing for the title.

Oscar Piastri believes that this season Max Verstappen will no longer be able to challenge him and Lando Norris for the championship title. At the FIA press conference in Hungary, the Australian McLaren driver also discussed what will decide the outcome of the title.

Oscar Piastri: "I believe that there are two main contenders for the title. At least in the last few weekends, it’s been like this – Lando and I were fighting for wins. But I expect that, until the end of the season, at some tracks, my competitors will be strong and challenge us. But who exactly that will be – Max, Ferrari, Mercedes, or someone else – we don't know right now.

Honestly, I don't pay too much attention to that. I’m just trying to win every race and increase the points lead. Clearly, Lando and I have the same car, which is the best at the moment, so he naturally becomes the main rival."

When asked what will decide the fate of the championship, Oscar said: "The answer is very simple – you need to win races until the end of the season, be faster than your rivals, and make as few mistakes as possible.

Consistent results are also great. But if you are constantly beaten, that’s not the recipe for winning the championship. A balance between victories and stability is important, but it’s not always possible. If you are a robot, you can drive as fast as possible and make no mistakes. But that’s impossible because we are all human. Therefore, minimizing mistakes will be an element in the fight for the title.

At the same time, as I already said, you need to drive fast and not sit still. Otherwise, you will be overtaken."
