Mika Häkkinen is happy for his daughter, whose career McLaren will take care of.

Yesterday McLaren Racing announced a female addition to its youth program, and among those joining was Ella Häkkinen, the daughter of a two-time world champion. Here’s what she says about herself: "I started karting when I was 11, my motorsport idol is my father, my favourite track is the Slovakia Ring (located near Bratislava), my dream car is the McLaren P1, my favourite animal is the horse, my favourite TV show is 'Stranger Things', my favourite artist is Frank Ocean." Of course, Mika Häkkinen was one of the first to congratulate his daughter, who will turn 15 on November 30, on the start of a new, very important stage of her career, but he was characteristically Finnish and brief: "Good luck, Ella!" The young racer competes in karting under a Czech license, although she holds triple citizenship — Finland, the Czech Republic and Monaco — and she lives with her parents in the Mediterranean principality. It seems the Finnish press is even concerned about this: the tabloid Ilta-Sanomat reminded readers that Nico Rosberg, the son of the first Finnish world champion, represented Finland in his youth but, from 2004, when he turned 18, began competing under a German license. But, apparently, that isn’t the main thing for Ella herself. "I am very happy to join McLaren's youth program," she commented. "Working with this team and the opportunity to learn everything opens up great prospects for me. I hope I can make progress in the years ahead — all in all, it'll be fun!"
