Many of you are asking what happened to Kimi's car during the race? A front wheel protection element broke. With 10 laps to go, the part detached and began to affect the suspension and steering. The car became almost uncontrollable, but Kimi showed incredible resilience and tried at all costs to keep it on the track to maintain at least a minimal chance of earning points.
As I said, the car was practically undriveable, so he went off the track several times. Unfortunately, at the end of the race, he was penalized for that. It is very unfortunate that this part broke, but we saw yet another bright example of the high level of skill and resilience of our young driver.
We were asked about the comparison of our car's speed with Ferrari. Since the beginning of the season, we have said that despite our strong start in the first races, the championship this year will be long. This season, everything depends on the refinement of the cars; competitors will close the gap and provide serious resistance – that is happening now. The season is still in full swing, there are many races ahead, and everyone is preparing many innovations. Every team, including Ferrari, is a serious competitor for us, and we are doing everything possible to maintain our lead in both championships.
The question about the speed difference between our cars last weekend is interesting: on Friday, there was indeed a difference, and the engineers worked on this together with the drivers. The problem was resolved from Saturday to Sunday when both cars ended up at a very, very similar level.
The last question concerns our expectations for the next two races, as Spa and Hungary have two completely different tracks. One of them has very changeable weather; Spa combines long straights, fast and slow corners, and sometimes the track can be wet.
In Hungary, the key factor is grip on the asphalt. Generally, it is hot there, and the track consists of slow sections, although there are also fast ones. These are two completely different tracks, and we look forward to the opportunity to prepare effectively for each of the two remaining races before the summer break.”
