Bayer: Riccardo didn't want any farewell ceremony
Racing Bulls still regret that they did not organize a normal farewell ceremony for Daniel Riccardo. In Singapore, where his last race was held, everything was done quietly and unofficially, and the formal confirmation of his parting with the team appeared only a few days later. When Peter Bayer, executive director of the team from Faenza, in an interview with RacingNews365 was asked if he regrets the situation that developed at the end of the Singapore race weekend, he answered in the affirmative. "Yes, - admitted the Austrian. - For example, when Kimi Raikkonen was finishing his career, I was still working in the FIA at that time, and then in Abu Dhabi, he together with his family went to the starting field, and it was a glorious picture. I think that's the kind of farewell you can wish for any driver. Daniel helped the team, he was very valuable to us in many ways, he made everyone feel very positive. I remember when he first came to Faenza, he was given an incredibly warm welcome and it was a great moment. He is a great driver, he helped us to improve the car and the technology is very difficult now. Daniel helped Yuki Tsunoda and even helped Liam Lawson, he was kind of a coach for them. He was very popular with the sponsors, so to be honest, Riccardo suited the team in everything, so I would have liked to see a proper ceremony organized for him. But it was a conscious decision (not to have any ceremony), because he was in Formula 1 for so long, then his career was interrupted, but he came back to the championship. We will never forget that it was our team that gave him such an opportunity. I think he appreciated it, gave himself entirely to work, was very collected and even in Singapore did not want to discuss the question of any farewell ceremony ... We treated it with respect.
