Williams has signed Oliver Turvey to a new contract

The Williams team has announced the signing of test driver and car development driver Oliver Turvey. The Briton, who has been a McLaren test driver for the past 15 years and has driven for the team in Formula E, will work on the Williams simulator in the coming season. Sven Smits, Sporting Director: "We are delighted to welcome Oliver to the team. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be invaluable to our progress as part of strengthening the team on all fronts. The role of test driver and car development driver is vital on our journey to success and I am confident that Oliver, joining Harrison Scott, will strengthen the team through the refinement of current and future cars." Oliver Turvey: "I am delighted to join Williams. I am honored to be part of a successful team with such a rich history. I have long admired Williams. When Damon Hill won the title driving for Williams, it was an inspirational moment for me, after which I started my racing career in karting. The ambition and determination in this project is incredibly inspiring and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead to help the team get back to the top. I am honored to be working alongside Alex Elbon and Carlos Sainz, who I consider to be some of the best drivers in Formula 1. I look forward to using my experience as a driver and engineer to work fruitfully with the team to improve the performance of the car on the simulator and support the race team. I want to thank James Vowles, Sven Smits and the board of directors for their trust. I will do everything in my power to help the team succeed."
