Nick de Vries replied to Helmut Marko

Nick de Vries has been sacked from AlphaTauri after only 12 rounds for the team in 2023. Inviting the Dutch racer Red Bull's motorsport consultant Helmut Marko called his biggest mistake. In the Cool Room podcast Nick commented on his experience in Formula 1 and added that he constantly felt pressure, because of which he could not reveal himself to the fullest extent. Nick de Vries: "It was difficult, but I do not resent anyone. I am grateful for the opportunity, because my childhood dream came true, albeit for a short period of time. I was lucky enough to get the chance to build a career in Formula 1. The press always puts pressure on the driver, but there is also internal pressure. It's different for every team, but I felt a double pressure. Everywhere I went, I felt I was constantly being watched. I'm not saying that the press attacked me, but I felt 24/7 that I was being written about and discussed. I was walking around the paddock and I knew what was being said about me and I couldn't hide from it. Even if I wanted to, I just didn't have a way out. I tried to ignore the outside background, I stopped reading the news, but I still knew it wasn't going anywhere. From the second weekend I started to hear all sorts of talk. Every time I came to the track, I had to answer questions on the same topic, and it didn't help to maximize my potential."
