McLaren F1 presents the MCL39, its contender for the 2025 championship.

The McLaren Formula 1 Team unveiled the MCL39 today at Silverstone Circuit, marking its first appearance on the track with an eye-catching geometric camo design in papaya and black tones. After a successful 2024 season, during which McLaren secured their ninth FIA Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship, the team held a promotional filming day in preparation for the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri sharing driving responsibilities at the iconic British motorsport venue.

McLaren will unveil their livery for the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship at F1 75 Live on Tuesday, February 18. This design will highlight some of the most prominent global brands and organizations, showcasing the ongoing support from McLaren’s valuable partners both on and off the track.

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, stated:

“Today marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of the 2025 title. It’s fantastic to witness our Championship contender, the MCL39, on track for the first time, showcasing the dedication of our team.

“We must be realistic, knowing every team has made advancements over the winter. Last year's competition showed just how tight the grid has become, which is a positive for the sport. We believe we have made further improvements since the Championship-winning MCL38, but we won’t know our exact standing until we reach Qualifying in Australia.

“We are a team that never stops racing, and we will put in our utmost effort to bring both Championships back to Woking.”

Andrea Stella, Team Principal of McLaren F1, remarked:

“We are thrilled to see the MCL39 on the track for the first time today at Silverstone Circuit. Although we concluded last year as Champions, 2024 demonstrated the high level of competition within the grid, which will continue into this year’s Championship. We must remain focused to compete at the forefront in this close field. It’s going to be an exhilarating yet formidable year ahead.

“The team has worked diligently to prepare for the season's start. We have learned a great deal from our experiences last year, and we will use that knowledge to drive our goals forward.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team for their efforts to get the car ready for today, as well as to our colleagues at Mercedes HPP for their ongoing collaboration. We must now concentrate on maximizing our time during testing before the first competitive session in Australia.”

Lando Norris, McLaren F1 Driver, said:

“It’s thrilling to drive the MCL39 for the first time and discover its track performance ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain. The camo livery is fun and provides an exciting preview before our full livery reveal at the official F1 75 launch.

“I appreciate all the hard work from the team that has brought us to this point. This year will be more competitive than ever, so we have a lot of work to do to defend our Constructor’s title and compete for the Drivers’ title as well.

“I’ve been back at the MTC preparing for the upcoming season, and the atmosphere is positive yet focused. We are eager to get the car on track in Bahrain before our competitive debut in Australia to see how we measure up against other teams. This season is shaping up to be very exciting.”

Oscar Piastri, McLaren F1 Driver, expressed:

“It’s fantastic to get behind the wheel of the MCL39 for the first time as we get ready to test it in Bahrain. The camo livery looks impressive, and I’m eager to showcase our racing design at the official livery reveal next week.

“I’ve put in considerable effort during the off-season to ensure I’m prepared for what lies ahead. The competition at the top will likely be extremely close, but I’m inspired by the potential for development after two seasons in the sport. Early wins in my career have fueled my desire for success, and I crave more.

“The team can carry strong momentum into 2025 after the fantastic achievements of 2024. A big thank you to everyone at the factory and trackside for all their hard work thus far.”
