Barnard is the youngest ever pole winner in Formula E

Taylor Barnard continues to surprise: the British McLaren driver has been on the podium twice in the first three races of the season, including yesterday, and today he became the youngest pole winner in Formula E history. In Saturday's qualifying at the Jeddah city circuit, he made it into the final session and in the final duel he beat experienced Nissan driver Oliver Rowland. At the fast city circuit in Jeddah, Taylor piloted the McLaren electric car accurately, carefully, but at the same time quite aggressively and became the winner of qualifying at the age of 20 years and 259 days. 32-year-old Rowland, to keep up with his young compatriot, had to take risks, and it did not go without a trace: he made a couple of mistakes and eventually lost on the lap almost three tenths. And the matter here is not in the difference between the cars: McLaren uses exactly the same electric power units produced by Nissan. "I am incredibly happy! - cheerfully commented Barnard immediately after qualifying. - The car we have this weekend - just fire! Only yesterday I got the first experience of piloting on the track in Jeddah, made conclusions from the mistakes made, and now just very satisfied. Now we will try to fight for the victory to set another record of Formula E - that's the goal I set myself for the race. Of course, pole - the most favorable position for the start, so I will make every possible effort. Oliver Rowland helped me during the career, taught me a lot, and on our cars are the same power units, so ahead of him is very pleasant.
