Laurent Mekis: We will find out the balance of power only in Melbourne

Racing Bulls is cautiously optimistic about the results of the three-day tests in Bahrain.…

Laurent Mekis, team leader: "All the staff at our base have made great efforts to prepare for the tests. In general, these three days were successful. We didn't have any serious problems, we traveled a long distance, collecting a lot of information about VCARB 02.

The racers did a great job: Yuki was motivated as always, and Isaac was a fast learner. The cool weather, unusual for Bahrain, even with a little rain, of course, did not help the work, but it was the same for all teams. In Melbourne, we will evaluate the performance of the car and the interaction of the tires with the track in hotter weather at the end of the Australian summer.

In the meantime, we are in a hurry to return to Faenza and Milton Keynes to analyze everything and understand how the results obtained in Sakhir relate to the data from our simulator. We have a few days left to prepare for a busy season, and we will only get an idea of the balance of power after qualifying at Albert Park."

Yuki Tsunoda (7th): "Three productive days are behind us, which ended today with a useful session combining long and short series of laps. The pace over the long run looked good, but the main thing is that we have collected information that we will now work with. We already know what to focus on.

We have made progress in these three days, and I was glad to get behind the wheel of a fast car after the winter holidays. Thanks to the staff at the bases in Italy and the UK who developed this machine. I feel like I'm ready for Australia."

Isaac Hajjar (15th): "I did more laps this morning than any other driver, and I did a great job with the scheduled program. We did everything we wanted to do, and I gained important experience and conducted a race simulation for the first time. We looked good on the long episodes, but we still have to work on the short episodes.

Overall, it's been a positive three days. We have collected a lot of data, which we will now analyze and test on the simulator next week.

I enjoy working with the team, especially Pierre, my race engineer, the other engineers and mechanics. Everything is going well. I'm looking forward to Melbourne!"
