Oscar Piastri: The rules of the fight are very clear
Last year, McLaren introduced special "papaya rules" stipulating the use of team tactics to achieve maximum results. Oscar Piastri, the team's driver, believes that there should be no serious problems this year either.
Oscar Piastri: "At the beginning of the season, the rules of the fight are very clear. Lando and I are starting the season from scratch, we have equal opportunities in the fight for victory. If the difference increases by the end of the season and one of us needs the help of a teammate, we will try to help each other, but that's a long way off. I hope that this will never happen at all, because each of us is focused on winning and dreaming of a title.
There were a few weekends last year when I performed worse than I had hoped. But I tried to improve my stability and my ability to adapt faster over the weekend. Sometimes, if the weekend didn't start well, especially if it was a stage with a Saturday sprint, it was difficult for me to get back into the fight. We analyzed all this in detail last winter and thought about how to achieve more.
I said at the end of last season that I wanted to work on qualifying. But after analyzing a lot of details, I realized that it's not just about qualifications. There are some other things, and if I can improve them, I'll feel confident and the bad weekends from the past will be left behind by themselves."
