Loic Serra: Everyone in the team believes that we will achieve the goal.
In an interview with the team's press service, Ferrari technical director for chassis operations Loic Serra spoke about the start of the season and the specifics of the Albert Park track.…
Q: What are the special features of the Albert Park track?Loic Serra: This is a temporary street track that includes high-speed sections and sharp turns. One of the features is the unpredictable and changeable weather: sometimes the transition from heat to cold takes less than an hour, which makes it difficult to predict and optimize car settings during the weekend.
In addition, since the track is rarely used, the condition of the surface changes a lot in three days, as well as the level of grip.
Q: How useful were the three days of testing in Bahrain? What have you learned about the SF-25?Loic Serra: Despite the unusual weather conditions, the tests turned out to be useful. We did everything we planned, the car worked reliably, and we didn't have any serious problems.
The main indicators of the SF-25 were in line with expectations, the machine reacted predictably to changes in settings. We are pleased to see a good correlation between the data obtained on the Sakhir track and what we saw on the simulator. This is a necessary basis for further improving the performance of the car in each race.
It was cold in Bahrain, and this weekend we expect much hotter weather at the end of the Australian summer, which will affect the behavior of the car, especially the tires. By the end of the weekend, we will have a clearer, though not definitive picture of the balance of power. We will focus on our work and do everything to start the season confidently.
Q: Your first full season at Ferrari is ahead. Are you impressed by the passion that surrounds this team?Loic Serra: Impressed is the right word! The passion for Ferrari among its fans and employees is admirable. It's incredibly inspiring and motivating for all of us. The mood in the team is very positive, everyone believes that we will achieve our goals.
