Bortoleto: I'll understand if Alonso ignores me.

Gabriel Bortoleto will make his Formula 1 debut in Melbourne this weekend. It is also interesting to follow the performances of the Brazilian Sauber driver because he will have to fight with his manager Fernando Alonso on the tracks.

"Fernando is a true professional," Gabriel Bortoleto is quoted as saying by Racingnews365. "Not only has he been competing in Formula 1 for many years, he is also the person who supports me. He helped me get into Formula 1 by negotiating with Sauber, and before that he helped me sign a contract with McLaren.

Fernando is the person I went to when I needed technical advice. He helped me a lot. We discussed the upcoming season with him, and of course he wants me to succeed.

Let's see if something changes in our relationship. He's a good guy, and I'm sure he'll continue to help me. At the same time, he is a fighter, so I will understand that he will ignore me."

Gabriel already enjoys huge fan support in his native Brazil. For young riders, the extra pressure and expectations can be a problem, but Bortoleto insists that this is not his case.: "I have never considered expectations to be something bad. If people expect something from you, it means that they believe in your potential and that you can achieve something big. If no one expects anything from you, it means they just don't believe in you.

I am very glad that the Brazilians expect a lot from me. It's great to have such support. Of course, when you don't win races, people may be disappointed because they want you to represent the country with dignity. I'm ready for this and I understand them. For me, this support is an additional incentive.

I'm one of those people who puts pressure on myself. My goal is to adapt and start showing results as quickly as I can. I am in a more comfortable environment than other newcomers because I have a good contract and I have high expectations for the future with Audi. But I still have to show the results.

I'm putting pressure on myself, but in a good way. I've always done this, and this approach has worked."
