Jordan's friends remember the final days of the F1 legend.

"Eddie Jordan persisted in life until the very end, as revealed by some of his closest friends in Formula 1. The legendary former team owner and founder of the Silverstone circuit, which is now home to Aston Martin, left the F1 community in mourning when his family announced his death at the age of 76 at his residence in Cape Town. Ralf Schumacher, a close friend and former driver for Jordan, noted that the Irishman remained positive and engaged with F1 "right until the end."

"We talked about the tests and I was on the phone with him just a few days ago," the German shared with Sky Deutschland. "He was always here and remained hopeful that he would somehow overcome it. But in his final days, he lost considerable weight, which was very draining for him."

Jordan had disclosed a few months earlier that he was fighting an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer that had spread throughout his body. Helmut Uhl, a German journalist from Bild newspaper, mentioned that he frequently communicated with ‘EJ.’ Recalling their last conversation, Uhl quoted Jordan as saying, "They found another tumor on my upper spine. I hope they can eliminate it with chemotherapy. I am very optimistic that medicine, aided by AI, can combat the cancer."

However, Jordan also told Uhl, "The older doctors are rather pessimistic, but a younger doctor told me that with my positive energy, optimistic thoughts, and fitness, I can overcome this. He believes they can halt the cancer."

Ralf Bach, another journalist friend of Jordan's, stated that their conversations were regular. "He often sent me videos of his band," he shared on f1-insider.com, "and we spoke on the phone twice a week. The last time we spoke was three weeks ago. It was the first and only time he deceived me. His voice was fragile and weak, which he attributed to the chemotherapy, yet he kept insisting, 'I can manage this, everything will be alright.' Now I realize he lied to protect me. He felt his end was near; it was his way of saying goodbye. Now, you can teach the angels how to rock and roll," Bach added.

Schumacher remarked that Jordan’s friends were aware of his illness "for some time." "But when the time came, and it happened last night – thankfully his wife and friends were there – it’s tragic, of course. We all held onto hope until the very end that everything would turn out fine, because he was a life lover," the former F1 driver stated. "Always full of energy, constantly playing sports, passionate about music, and until the very end, you never truly believed he wouldn’t somehow pull through, as he always had."
