Berman: Changing the settings after the sprint worked
At the Chinese Grand Prix, the Haas team scored points in 2025, finishing in the top ten with two cars. After the disqualification of the Ferrari drivers, Esteban Ocon moved from seventh to fifth place in the final standings, and Oliver Berman – from tenth to eighth.
Esteban Ocon (7th, 5th after the disqualification of Charles Leclair and Lewis Hamilton): "Just a week ago in Melbourne, the situation looked difficult for us, but since then we haven't slept much, and it's been worth it. The team and I discussed all possible options to find a way to get more speed from the car. We knew that we had the speed, but we need to increase it even more, and at the moment everything is going well.
To be honest, the team has bounced back fantastically. I am proud of the work of everyone in Maranello, Banbury and Kannapolis – everyone has put a lot of effort into finding solutions. Great team work, and great performance from Oliver. We scored points with two cars, and that means a lot. Yesterday he was out of shape, but today he returned to the fight thanks to an alternative strategy. He did a great job, it's nice to see."
Oliver Berman (10th, 8th after the disqualification of Charles Leclair, Lewis Hamilton and Pierre Gasly): "It was an amazing day, in which we reacted very correctly to the changed circumstances. As I said before, after Saturday's sprint, the team changed the settings, and they worked in qualifying and in the race.
The interaction with the team during the race was very productive. I think the team has demonstrated the best response to the difficulties we had in Melbourne – everyone just got to work.
I didn't expect the team to score so many points today. I would be happy if they told me that I would earn one point. Amazing result. I will continue to work with the team to further refine the car."
