Alpine will not challenge Gasly's disqualification.
Following the results of the Chinese Grand Prix, the results of not only the Ferrari drivers, but also Pierre Gasly were excluded from the race protocol. Unlike Ferrari, Alpine did not explain the reason for the underweight of the racer's car, limiting itself to the general phrase "technical violation".
A short message from the Alpine press service said that the team accepts the verdict of the stewards and will now focus on preparing for the next Japanese Grand Prix. Team principal Oliver Oakes added that the engineers will try to find ways to improve the car in the upcoming races.
Oliver Oakes: "Compared to qualifying, the race was better – Pierre and Jack [Duane] regained their positions. In the sprint, degradation and granulation of the rubber were high, but as the condition of the track improved, we decided to complete the race with a single pit stop, putting Hard on the final stretch.
Pierre made a great start, gaining three positions on the first lap, as well as in the sprint, and finished eleventh. Unfortunately, he was disqualified after the race for a technical violation. Jack's pace was comparable to the rivals he rode alongside, and he fought well.
Ultimately, we didn't have enough speed, so we need to understand why we weren't competitive enough on this track. We will study everything to improve in future races."
