Gasly: Having played two tenths, we will be in sixth position.
After the finish of the Chinese Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly was disqualified for underweight of the car. At the FIA press conference in Suzuka, the Alpine rider said that the team had figured out the reasons for the incident and expressed confidence that he would be able to compete for points in Japan.
Pierre Gasly: "After last weekend, the team and I realized that we could have done some things differently. I am still confident that we have a good car at our disposal, which allows us to fight for positions in the top ten.
The season has just started, so we continue to explore the features of the A525 and how to make the most of it. There are three races ahead on different types of tracks, and I'm looking forward to them.
Compared to last year, the car has become a step forward. But if you look at the other teams, it becomes clear that they have taken a step forward. The fight is incredibly tight, so the results largely depend on how accurately you manage to set up the car on a particular track. If we play two tenths now, we will be in the sixth or seventh position.
Unfortunately, we didn't do well enough in China, but the team knows the reasons why, so I'm pretty confident that we'll be able to compete in the three upcoming races."
