The new Ferrari floor won't be ready until Bahrain.
Serra returned to Maranello right after the Melbourne race.
According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Ferrari’s new floor for its 2025 car will not make its debut until next weekend in Bahrain. La Gazzetta dello Sport, a reputable source, has reported the same information, which contradicts earlier statements suggesting the new floor might be ready for this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix. However, technical journalist Paolo Filisetti asserts that Ferrari’s new technical director, Loic Serra, has been working tirelessly on the new Bahrain-specific solution.
In Australia and China, the Maranello-based team discovered that their 2025 car was "critically sensitive to changes in ride height,” often leading to a "significant loss of downforce." Filisetti remarked, "Loic Serra returned to Maranello immediately after Melbourne to evaluate potential short-term solutions." Team principal Frederic Vasseur has expressed his worry that the true capabilities of the SF-25 have only been evident "on Friday and during the sprint in China."
Nevertheless, Filisetti from La Gazzetta dello Sport contends that the "basic concept" of the 2025 project is solid. Regarding the new floor for Bahrain, he mentioned that "around 20 adjustments were tested in simulations to find the optimal foundation for the single-seater that will race in Japan." The floor for Bahrain will "not be a large package, but rather a preview of what is planned for the race weekend in Miami at the beginning of May."
Charles Leclerc commented at Suzuka on Thursday: "When you start in the middle of the pack with degradation, you cannot demonstrate your pace. So we need to enhance our qualifying performance. We have to improve on that. Small steps after small steps – we can still have an incredible season."
