Bortoleto confronted Marko regarding the 'B-grade' remark.

"They had never had a conversation prior to this."

Formula 1 newcomer Gabriel Bortoleto confronted Dr. Helmut Marko after the media labeled him as a 'B-grade' driver. The 20-year-old Brazilian, who is the current F2 champion, was pointed out by Red Bull advisor Marko, who noted that "he only had two wins." Marko added, "He’s a very intelligent driver who brings the car home, but I don't see that ultimate speed in him."

Bortoleto quickly responded, managed by F1 legend Fernando Alonso. "Hearing that from Helmut - he’s a person who has introduced a lot of talent to Formula 1 but has also brought in some unsuitable talents. So, it’s clear he’s had both successes and failures, and hopefully, I will prove him wrong."

Now, a photograph has surfaced showing Bortoleto speaking with the 81-year-old Marko in the paddock. Formula 1 journalist Julianne Cerasoli inquired about their conversation with the Sauber driver. "They had never spoken before, so he called Marko to officially introduce himself," she noted.

"The Austrian also clarified his comments regarding the 'B driver.' Marko mentioned that what was reported in the media was more severe than what he originally expressed and that he considers Gabriel a very intelligent driver. Everything is good between them. And no, he (Marko) didn’t offer (Bortoleto) any position. Just to clarify, Gabriel has a long-term contract with Audi."
