"It holds significant importance in the broader discussion within Formula 1."
Frederik Vesti’s manager has confirmed the rumors that the Danish driver will be participating for Mercedes this weekend in Bahrain. The 23-year-old Dane finished as the runner-up in F2 in 2023, but since then, he has found it challenging to progress beyond a test driver position at Mercedes. Acting team principal Bradley Lord commended Vesti at the conclusion of the Japanese GP weekend. "It's important to note that while Valtteri (Bottas) is present at the track, Fred Vesti, who is back at base this weekend in the simulator, has logged the most miles in the W16, albeit all virtually thus far," he remarked. Vesti’s manager, Dorte Riis Madsen, confirmed to Ekstra Bladet that the Dane will drive George Russell’s car during the initial practice session in Bahrain on Friday. "It holds significant importance in the broader discussion within Formula 1," she stated. "Frederik is getting in the car, and the name remains relevant. "It's crucial for conversations with various individuals regarding the future," Riis Madsen added. Vesti competes for Cadillac Whelen in the IMSA sports car championship.
