Zach Brown: There will be more intense fights between Oscar and Lando

Zach Brown praised the team's performance in Bahrain, where Oscar Piastri won a landslide victory after starting from pole, and Lando Norris, although he did not have the best qualifying on Saturday, played quite convincingly.

At the same time, the executive director of McLaren Racing is ready for a fundamental rivalry between his two drivers.

Zach Brown: "I'm happy, it was wonderful! I can't believe we've never won on this track before, even in the earlier days when our team won so many races. But to win this Grand Prix, which was attended by our main shareholders, is wonderful!

Our drivers piloted well, and the whole team worked very well together. Oscar has shown great form – and although he is always in shape, he has simply dominated this week. Lando Norris had a great race too, so it's great that we scored so many points.

I was hoping that both McLaren drivers would get on the podium, but it should be noted that George Russell also performed well, and Mercedes definitely has a very fast car. In any case, I was very pleased with our result.

If we talk about Lando, then by the way he drove the first lap, it was clear that he had regained a truly fighting spirit (after not the most successful qualifying) – unfortunately, he received a fine, although he deserved it. But then, together with the team, they did a great job to win back, and we saw the Lando we know well again.

However, although we are confidently leading in both championship standings, I remind you that there is never much advantage, because rivals from Ferrari and Mercedes are very fast, and we know that everything is changing very rapidly in our sport. There are still a lot of races ahead, but right now I'm very proud of our team.

There is a fierce rivalry between our two drivers, and I am sure that we will see a lot more interesting things during the season, but at the same time they try to act very correctly on the track.

We discuss all this with them before every race, although bright and principled fights are quite possible between Oscar and Lando in the future – sooner or later it will happen. But both contribute to the team's progress, and it's all very interesting.

I think we should be quite confident in Saudi Arabia too. The high-speed urban highway in Jeddah does not forgive mistakes, but we must show good results. Of course, the success of the Bahrain Grand Prix should be celebrated, but we will get back to work on Monday."
