The sponsor has announced that Colapinto will take over for Doohan 'in Imola'.

YPF president Horacio Marin participated in an interview.

This weekend in Miami might be Jack Doohan's final race for now behind the wheel of an Alpine. Speculation regarding his future has been rampant throughout the season, particularly with team advisor Flavio Briatore's clear preference for Franco Colapinto—who is currently on loan from Williams—to take his place. However, the intensity of these rumors has subsided in recent weeks. Team principal Oliver Oakes appeared to aim to alleviate some of the pressure on Doohan, but discussions have emerged about Alpine wanting to extract more funding from Colapinto’s sponsors.

The branding of Argentine e-commerce firm Mercado Libre is already featured on the Alpine car, but another significant supporter of Colapinto—Argentine oil company YPF—remains absent. Some speculate this could be due to a conflict with both an existing and a new Alpine sponsor, ENI, which is an Italian oil company.

During an interview with Argentine network A24 this week, Marin was directly asked whether Colapinto would be racing for Alpine in 2025. "I can’t tell you that," Marin chuckled. The interviewer pressed further, inquiring: "When will he make his debut? In Miami?" Once more, Marin laughed and awkwardly clarified that he couldn’t disclose any information about it. However, immediately after the interview concluded, and believing his microphone was no longer live due to music and an end-screen on the monitor, he was overheard telling the interviewer, "In Imola."
