Zach Brown will drive the FW11B at Silverstone
During the British Grand Prix weekend, McLaren Racing Executive Director Zach Brown will drive Nigel Mansell's Williams FW11B from his private collection as part of the historic car races.
In the winter, we wrote that Zach underwent seat fitting in Williams FW11B and Lotus 1979 in John Player Special colors. Now he plans to work with the FW11B on tests in Spain to prepare for the demonstration races.
Zach Brown: "I think the fans will be thrilled to see Mansell's car on the track. I'll get behind the wheel myself, and before that I'll test it in Spain, because I've never driven it before. We have just completely restored it, and now the car is in perfect order. I'm sure the audience will like it, although they may be a little confused that a guy from McLaren is driving a Williams.
It's a 1987 car that won a lot of races. Mansell said it was his favorite car. If you remember that famous British Grand Prix, when he was in the lead, but got a puncture, fell behind, and then was able to recoup, breaking the track record, in my opinion, 17 laps in a row, and at the end of the straight ahead of Nelson Piquet to win. This is exactly the car. I got it when I signed a sponsorship deal with Williams."
