Marko: Verstappen broke the lap record by two seconds
Last week, reigning world champion Max Verstappen took part in the tests of the Ferrari 296 GT3 on the "Northern Loop" of the Nurburgring. Helmut Marko, Red Bull's motorsport consultant, revealed some details of the past races, saying that Max had beaten the lap record by two seconds.
Helmut Marko: "Max has a real love for GT racing and he has his own team. He told me that he broke the track record by two seconds after only three laps. He knew all about his times and suspension settings. He was almost more involved in the details than with his Formula 1 car.
" Marco added that Verstappen would continue to invest not only in the GT team, but also in his esports team: "Max has a team involved in virtual racing, and he wants to put his best driver behind the wheel of a GT car.
He actively promotes young talents. Nowadays, a go-karting season costs a quarter of a million euros, and virtual racing equipment costs from 30,000 to 50,000 euros. Max also develops software for simulators used by Formula 2 and Formula 3 teams."
