Marko suggests Hadjar is casting uncertainty on Tsunoda's position.
"Yuki is already sensing the pressure."
An exhilarating future is on the horizon for Isack Hadjar, as Yuki Tsunoda starts to "feel the pressure." This perspective comes from Red Bull's well-known and often controversial F1 consultant, Dr. Helmut Marko, who continues to commend the initial stages of rookie Hadjar's Formula 1 career with the junior team, Racing Bulls.
The 20-year-old Hadjar is exceeding the performance of his more seasoned teammate Liam Lawson, who had impressed Red Bull executives so much last year that he was chosen over Tsunoda for the main Red Bull team alongside Max Verstappen. Tsunoda and Lawson's positions were quickly swapped, and Marko is pleased to see that the Japanese driver is at least performing better than Lawson did at Red Bull Racing.
Nonetheless, Marko cannot help but praise the French-Algerian Hadjar. "Hadjar is the big surprise for me," the 82-year-old remarked to Kronen Zeitung newspaper. "He performs with a calmness that seems second nature to him. It’s even more impressive considering he is unfamiliar with most of the circuits."
Marko even concedes that Hadjar is exerting pressure on Red Bull Racing driver Tsunoda, especially since Tsunoda's sponsor, Honda, is shifting to Aston Martin next year. "Yuki already feels the pressure," the Austrian stated. "He starts to lose his footing when confronted with pressure."
