Christian Horner: Max apologized to Red Bull Racing

Christian Horner has confirmed that Max Verstappen has apologized to the team for deliberately crashing into George Russell.

The head of Red Bull Racing released a statement on social media in which he spoke about some details of the briefing that took place after the race.

"The race in Spain has completed a series of stages, and we left Barcelona disappointed that we could not achieve more in the race," Christian Horner said in a statement. – The team chose an attacking strategy with three pit stops, which seemed to us the best choice, and only the departure of the safety car ruined everything. If it hadn't been for the three pit stops, we wouldn't have been able to get this close to Lando Norris.

The safety car pulled out at the worst possible moment for our strategy. We had a choice to stay on the track with the old tires or take a chance with a new set of hard tires. Everyone is strong in hindsight, but we made the best decision at that time based on the available information.

The subsequent result was disappointing, as Max could easily have reached the podium and scored a lot of points in the championship. At the briefing, Max apologized for the incident with Russell.

The safety car ruined the race and Yuki Tsunode. Otherwise, he would have finished either near the top ten or even earned points, given the trajectory of his progress.

But this is racing – everything can change in a thousandth of a second. This is one of the reasons why we are so passionate and love this sport so much. We had a difficult weekend, but we will work hard in the coming weeks to make improvements to the car settings and come back strong in Montreal."
