REC Stage Two: Lamborghini takes off
On Saturday, June 28, the second stage of the Russian Endurance Racing (REC) Grand Prix of SPORTS will take place at the Moscow Raceway near Moscow.
The participation of two Lamborghini Huracans at once, announced in the "top" class of the GT Pro series, will definitely heat up the fight. The Ferrari 488 is scheduled to be replaced by a Lamborghini in the SPORA GT team, and the Lamborghini of the ISKRA Motorsport team No. 37 will compete on the track.
The race will show whether the success of the first stage will be repeated by the crew No. 33 of Alexey Nesov, multiple winner of the 24 Hours of Spa and champion of the Blancpain Endurance Series, and his partner Maxim Kizilov in Mercedes AMG GT3.
About thirty crews will take off. Apart from Alexey Nesov, Mikhail Alyoshin, the first Russian driver in IndyCar history and Formula Renault 3.5 champion, is among the "star" names on the list of participants, who will continue to serve as the "playing coach" of the Capital RT team on the Mercedes-AMG GT4.
The CN Pro sports prototype class is also seriously preparing for the upcoming launch. After losing in the overall standings in the first stage, the Blackthorm (Norma M20FC), SVL Racing and Balchug Racing teams (both on Ligier JS53) upgraded their prototypes to challenge powerful sports cars.
By the second stage, the current changes in the 2025 REC have become clearer. Today, the Russian Endurance Racing series has more than 55 crews and more than 100 pilots in four classes GT Pro, GT, CN Pro and GT Light. By the end of the season, GT Light may become the most "massive" class, where teams compete on BMW, Mini Cooper, Mazda 3, Mitsubishi, Seat cars.
The GT and GT Pro classes have become more diverse, and the number of participants is growing. Cars: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes AMG, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Toyota. So far, the Marussia GT and the ROSSA GT, which debuted last season, have not entered the season. The organizers do not lose hope of seeing them at the start of future stages.
The CN Pro class retains its participants from last year in Ligier and Norma cars, but it is in this class that the organizers promise interesting news during the season.
A strong line-up of participants in the second stage, a change of time of day with possible warm summer rain can completely change the picture in the REC for the third stage of the series.
The second stage of the season will take place on Saturday, June 28 at the Moscow Raceway. The race starts at 18:00, the entrance for the audience is at 15:00. Tickets are on the website superrace.ru
