British Grand Prix: Pre-race comments
McLaren Formula 1 Team
Lando Norris: "The next race is at Silverstone! My favorite weekend of the season and McLaren’s home race. The track itself is special, and my family, friends, and our fans will be coming to the Grand Prix—there will be so many that the team’s support will reach a new level. I’ll definitely try to wave to the fans as I pass by, especially past the Lando Tribunes, which I’ll be glad to see fully packed.
Considering everything said, we’re set for another important race weekend, and I want to maximize our performance. After the results in Austria, I aim to keep that momentum this weekend and give our home supporters a reason to celebrate."
Oscar Piastri: "The Austria race was very encouraging—we could see we had the pace. We learned some new things, and at the British Grand Prix, I’m ready to show all I’m capable of.
I’ve always been lucky with the incredible support I receive at Silverstone. It’s great to be part of a team for whom this race is a home event. Thanks to everyone trackside and at the factory who did a great job with the car."
Andrew Stella, Team Principal: "This weekend is special for us because it’s the team’s and Lando’s home race. It will be fantastic to see many colleagues and fans in papaya colors in the stands. We hope to achieve a result worth celebrating.
We’ve officially reached the halfway point of the 2025 season—a good moment to reflect on the intense work that has put us at the lead of both championships, though there have been challenges due to fierce competition.
We will continue focusing on our own goals, knowing that the rest of the season will demand incredible efforts from all of us in this very intense Formula 1 season."
Scuderia Ferrari
Frederic Vasseur, Team Principal: "From Austria, we move to Silverstone, where the race will take place on one of the classic circuits with very different characteristics from Spielberg.
The upgrades we brought to the SF-25 played a role in our good result last Sunday, and we hope to carry this positive momentum into the next race. We saw how important it is to focus on every aspect of the work to deliver high results, and we aim for another flawless weekend.
This is Lewis’s home race, and he’s targeting a strong result on a track where he always receives incredible support. I personally look forward to returning to the circuit with the team and enjoying the unique atmosphere of Silverstone."
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team
Toto Wolff: "After a tough Austrian Grand Prix, it’s great to get back on track immediately. We deliberately experimented with setups at Spielberg. The testing was useful, providing the team with positive data that we can use this weekend. But ultimately, the experiments didn’t help our results.
Silverstone is typically a strong track for us. The cool weather should suit our car, and we hope to achieve good results in front of our colleagues and passionate British fans who always create a fantastic atmosphere.
The first-ever race in the World Championship was held at Silverstone 75 years ago, so this weekend holds additional significance for Formula 1. We will take the opportunity to celebrate Mercedes’s milestone in automotive and racing history—past, present, and future. Among other things, we will unveil a revamped livery featuring an orange sunset beam from the recently launched CONCEPT AMG GT XX, an innovative concept car offering an impressive glimpse into AMG’s future.
We’re in for an exciting weekend with off-track events, but our main focus will be on track performance. The team is eager to bounce back after the previous race and deliver results more in line with Mercedes’s legendary history."
Red Bull Racing
Max Verstappen: "We need to forget about the Austria weekend quickly—it was unlucky for us, and the result wasn’t what we wanted. We want to get back into the fight in better shape, and I hope we can extract more speed from the car this weekend. We understood what went wrong in Austria, and we’re ready to move on.
Silverstone features many high-speed corners, making overtaking difficult. The event is always intense, with lots of team activities, but it’s nice for the team to spend the weekend close to home. The weather at Silverstone is unpredictable—let’s see what it’s like this time."
Yuki Tsunoda: "I had high expectations for the Austrian weekend, but it didn’t turn out as we hoped. I just have to accept that and move forward.
I feel more confident in the car, but I’m frustrated that I haven’t been able to unlock its full potential on the long runs. Along with the team, I’m trying to find ways to do that and achieve consistency during the weekend.
It’s positive that we have decent qualifying speed, and now we need to ensure we’ve chosen the right settings so I can do a good lap like in Canada. I want this week to go well for us, and for me to show what I can do."
Arvid Lindblad: "I’m excited to get the chance to participate in the first practice session. Sitting behind the wheel of a Red Bull race car after nearly five years in the junior team is special for me, and it’s a great opportunity to take the next step—I’ve dreamed of this for a long time, and I’m grateful to everyone at Red Bull Racing.
Debuting in Formula 1 as a British driver, on a British track, in front of the British fans—this is incredible. My goal is to learn the car quickly, gather useful data for Yuki, and try to drive fast! I’m looking forward to hitting the track."
Williams Racing
Alex Albon: "The last few races have been tough for the team, but we’re optimistic ahead of our home Grand Prix and plan to bounce back. We usually perform strongly at Silverstone, earning points in the last two years. The car should be effective on this track, and the team is focused on solving the issues and getting back to good form.
Fans make the weekend one of the best of the year, and I look forward to their support in the stands!"
Carlos Sainz: "Right after the last weekend, we are back on track for the home British Grand Prix. I have great memories of Silverstone, and I’m glad the next race is right after Austria didn’t go well.
The team continues to work tirelessly to identify our strengths and weaknesses and improve them. We hope to fight strongly this weekend.
I look forward to seeing the fans again as a driver of the British team!"
Racing Bulls
Isaac Hajar: "After the disappointing end to the race in Austria last week, when I was close to scoring points, we have fully recovered and are ready for Silverstone, a historic track.
It’s one of the traditional circuits with a familiar layout. Aero and effective setups are essential here, and we’re good in those areas this season. I expect our car to be competitive, so our clear goal is to fight for points."
Liam Lawson: "The race weekend at Silverstone takes place on a legendary track where I grew up racing in various categories. It’s one of the best circuits for Formula 1 cars, and I’ve been lucky to test here.
This weekend marks my first F1 race at Silverstone, and I’m very excited. The atmosphere is incredible, with many fans filling the stands. I spent several years here and now look forward to returning to this fast and technical track after a successful weekend in Austria."
Haas F1 Team
Oliver Berman: "The upcoming weekend promises to be incredibly exciting, and it’s my first home race as an official Formula 1 driver. Last year’s British GP was special for me, as that’s when my contract with Haas was announced, and I participated in my first practice session.
But what this first full race weekend at Silverstone will be like, I can only imagine. I felt the support of British fans during the F1 75 Live anniversary show in February, and I have been looking forward to this home event ever since.
Additionally, my brother Thomas will race in Formula 4, so it will be the first time we participate in races during the same weekend. It’s a very important moment for me and for our family.
Silverstone is among my five favorite circuits on the calendar because cars are built for tracks like this, and the races are always exciting, with the always-present threat of rain!"
Esteban Ocon: "Silverstone is the British home of Formula 1, and our team’s base is very close to the circuit, making it a home race for us and a special event. Every year, we feel strong support from British fans, which is very appreciated.
The track has a rich history, with many high-speed corners, and racing there is a lot of fun. As always during a weekend, weather can be a serious factor, opening opportunities for success. I hope we will be fighting for high positions and have a good weekend."
