Toto Wolff: Kimi shouldn't blame himself too much

Kimi Anttonelli did not score points in the previous two races in Austria and Great Britain. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff does not see this as a problem and says that the team's current goal is to ensure that the young driver does not blame himself for the lack of results.

"After the Montreal race, things didn't go smoothly for us," shared Toto Wolff after the British Grand Prix. "Everyone in the team, including Kimi, believes that the last two races were not at the desired level. I think we need to go back to the starting point.

Kimi is an excellent driver, and there are reasons why we signed a contract with him. I am willing to agree with everything that has happened recently. Kimi's first pit stop was a strategic mistake—we shouldn't have made it. Honestly, Kimi couldn't explain to us exactly what was wrong, but that's because he simply lacks experience. He found himself in a hopeless situation.

Then he was hit from behind by Isaac Hajar, and that was the end of the race for him. It is now important to keep Kimi's morale high, not to let him suffer or blame himself too much.

I'm not sure if the problem is that he's trying too hard. He just wants to deliver good results, but at the same time, he’s overwhelmed with a huge amount of information.

He aims to get the maximum out of the car and begins to think about how to return to the results he previously had. But we overthink too much and need to start acting more simply."
