FIA adapted the stewards' manual for Formula E.
Three weeks ago, we wrote that FIA has published a guide for marshals to determine penalty sizes for different types of violations, which is intended to ensure predictability and consistency of sanctions. The document primarily relates to Formula 1, but today the federation announced that a guide has now been developed based on it for marshals working in Formula E, taking into account the specific features of the electric vehicle racing world championship. The new approaches to assessing driver actions on the track will be applied starting from this weekend, as Berlin hosts a double round of Formula E, after which only one final event will remain in August, traditionally hosted by London. According to the FIA press release, the provisions of this document were formulated based on consultations with championship participants and are designed to help marshals act fairly and consistently when making decisions in incident cases on the track and regarding various rule violations. Among other features, the "electric" version of the marshals' guide provides detailed instructions on how to interpret driver actions, such as conserving energy by coasting, activating Attack Mode (increased power mode), or returning to the track after a pit stop during which rapid battery charging occurred. Mohammed Ben Sulayem: "FIA marshals and other federation officials play a crucial role in maintaining safety and fairness at all levels of motorsport. As the governing body, we strive to equip these people with the necessary tools, resources, and support so they can adhere to the highest standards in their work. This guide for the electric racing world championship has been specifically developed for this series in close collaboration with drivers, officials, and experts. This set of rules aims to ensure that driver actions conform to the unique requirements and spirit of this championship."
