Positive developments for Colapinto amidst uncertainty at Alpine.

"While the season is in progress, there’s no space for conversation."

Franco Colapinto can likely relax, as it seems his position is secure for the remainder of the 2025 season. There have been rumors that Flavio Briatore is becoming frustrated with the Argentine rookie’s difficult transition to Alpine. Speculation indicates he may consider bringing Valtteri Bottas from the Mercedes reserve or reinstating Jack Doohan in the Enstone-built car.

Despite the speculation, the 21-year-old Colapinto expressed at Silverstone that he’s "not really" concerned about the rumors, and this confidence appears justified. He enjoys strong backing from corporate Argentina, including support from the Argentine division of Alpine’s parent company, Renault.

When asked by the streaming platform Lovest if Colapinto's seat is secure beyond just a few races, Renault Argentina CEO Pablo Sibilla responded affirmatively: "Yes, end of year." Moreover, Sibilla disclosed that plans are underway for a Formula 1 exhibition event in Argentina featuring Alpine and Colapinto.

"We can’t disclose details yet as we are unsure of the numbers," he mentioned. "But Franco could be involved in the event." Sibilla also said he’s uncertain whether Colapinto would be in an F1 car or an Alpine road car during the demonstration. "It could be either, or possibly both," he noted with a smile.

"What is clear is that organizing an event of that scale requires effective crowd management, as it is a brand responsibility." He admitted that a budget for the event has yet to be determined. "Bringing an F1 car is quite expensive," he cautioned, adding that the event is planned for "the last quarter of the year, on a nice street in Buenos Aires."

Sibilla concluded: "Our main priority is for Franco to stay focused on the season. While the season is ongoing, there’s no room for discussion."
