Jenson Button will retire from the WEC at the end of the season.
2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button announced his retirement from the FIA WEC endurance racing championship at the end of the season. The British driver races for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA, and last weekend finished second at the Interlagos stage with teammates Earl Bamber and Sébastien Bourdais.
In his statement, Button added that he is not fully ending his sports career yet and will occasionally compete in individual races in 2026.
Jenson Button: "Life has become very busy, and I am involved in a large number of projects. I currently have a very tight work schedule, but it's time to think about the future – I want to spend more time with my family.
I will have less and less time for the team, especially next year, and it would be unfair to the team for me to have a different attitude. Next year, I will continue racing, but not for the full season."
