"I don’t think I can truly assign a value to the experience."

McLaren’s technical director accidentally shattered the team’s winning constructors’ trophy just moments after the recent British GP. Teasing Nico Hulkenberg, championship leader Oscar Piastri jested about the 37-year-old German receiving a Lego trophy on the Silverstone podium. "What’s it like to finally be on the podium after 15 years in Formula 1 and receive a Lego trophy?" he chuckled. "You can take it apart and probably find it in a toy store next week."

Hulkenberg, however, took it in stride, affirming that he is quite content with his trophy, which also represents F1’s partnership with Lego. "I love Lego," remarked the Sauber driver, "and now my little daughter can play with it as well. You have to view it positively, although a bit of silver or gold wouldn’t have been bad either. But I won’t complain now."

Even the winning constructors’ trophy at the British GP comprised thousands of individual Lego bricks, and its durability was tested by Prodromou, who accidentally dropped and broke the trophy behind the podium. "While it doesn’t show exactly how the trophy breaks, the footage depicts the already damaged winning constructor trophy lying on the floor," the report noted. Lego stated that assembling the trophies required a total of 717 hours. "It took so many hours and everything," said Lego’s creative director Samuel Liltorp Johnson prior to the incident, according to The Sun newspaper. "I don’t think I can truly assign a value to the experience."
