Alonso: I almost don't remember anything about the first victory.

On Thursday in Hungary, Fernando Alonso recalled his first Formula 1 victory at Hungaroring in 2003 and spoke about rainy races...

Fernando Alonso: "Winning in Formula 1 is always special, but I hardly remember that day because in the morning we – Briatore, myself, and Jarno Trulli – had to attend a promotional event in Poland. On Sunday, I couldn't celebrate the win properly – I had to leave. I remember feeling a bit disappointed then.

Visibility in rainy weather worsened. On one hand, it was due to wider tires, and on the other, the asphalt surface on many tracks has different characteristics than before. At Sepang, we raced in heavy rain, and everything was fine. The new-generation asphalt, which is very black and provides excellent grip in dry conditions, becomes as slippery as glass in the rain.

Our failure at Spa was solely related to the track's features. At least, I want to believe that.

The car didn't differ from previous races, but from the first practice session, we couldn't maintain the right pace.

On dry asphalt, we were uncompetitive, and we were counting on an entirely wet race, but that didn't happen. So, luck wasn't on our side. But I think the track configuration was the decisive factor."
