F3: Intrafuvasak achieved his second victory of the season.
Tasnapol Intrafuvasak's victory concluded Saturday's Formula 3 sprint race at the Hungaroring circuit.
The Saturday morning greeted the young championship participants with cloudy but dry weather. Pole-sitter Tasnapol Intrafuvasak maintained the lead at the start, although James Hedley tried to attack in turn one. As a result, there was a minor contact between Hedley and James Warton, but both kept their positions.
At the end of the first lap in turn 12, Hugo Ugocukwu hit Alessandro Giusti's car, breaking the MP Motorsport driver's front-left suspension. Giusti was left out of the race after crashing. A safety car was deployed.
The race resumed on the fourth lap of nineteen. The drivers in the top ten retained their positions, although Charlie Wurz was actively pressuring Ugocukwu for fifth place. Outside the top ten, championship leader Rafael Câmara moved up to 11th, overtaking Brad Benavides.
On the fifth lap, Ugocukwu overtook Brando Badoer and moved into fourth place. On the seventh lap, braking into the first turn, Ugocukwu overtook James Worton in the battle for third.
On the tenth lap, Ugocukwu attacked Hedley in the second turn, but Warton firmly thwarted the attempt. Behind, in the first turn, Noël Leon overtook Tuukka Taponen for tenth place. On the next lap, Taponen overtook Câmara on the braking into the first turn.
On the eleventh lap, Ugocukwu finally broke through Hedley's resistance and moved into second place. Câmara continued to make progress and overtook Gerard Si for tenth. Nikola Zolov, second in the overall standings, struggled to ascend and reached seventeenth position by the thirteenth lap.
On the fifteenth lap, beyond turn four, Théophile Naël and Noël Leon collided. Leon's race ended here, and a safety car was deployed. Meanwhile, Benavides returned to the pits with damaged suspension.
The restart was given on the final lap. Tasnapol Intrafuvasak kept the lead, and in the battle for third, Charlie Wurz overtook Hedley on braking into the first turn.
Intrafuvasak calmly completed the lap to the finish, securing his second win of the season. Ugocukwu's second place matched his best career result. Charlie Wurz, like last week in Spa, stepped onto the podium's third step. James Hedley was disappointed to lose third place on the last lap, but his fourth place earned him his first points in Formula 3.
The fastest lap of the race was set by the last finisher, Ivan Dominguez. Rafael Câmara finished eighth, while his contenders Nikola Zolov and Tim Tramitz finished outside the top ten. In Sunday’s race, Câmara could secure the title.
