Bartolotto: This is my best result in my career.
Gabriel Bortoleto achieved his best starting position in his still relatively short Formula 1 career, qualifying seventh for the Hungarian Grand Prix. For his Sauber teammate, the Saturday session was less successful – Nico Hülkenberg will start nineteenth.
Gabriel Bortoleto (7th): "I'm very happy with how qualifying went today. After a difficult start to the weekend, when I lacked speed and confidence in the car, we worked hard to fix the issues and made progress.
I made it to the final and posted seventh time – this is currently my best result in Formula 1 and a great achievement for me and the team.
I'm learning a lot this year, but that's expected in my debut season. Every session is an opportunity to improve, but I wouldn't have achieved this without an amazing team. They support and push me forward, and together we are progressing. Right now, all attention is on performing well in the race."
Nico Hülkenberg (19th): "There's no point in hiding the fact that the result is disappointing, especially considering how fast the car was in practice. From the first laps on Friday, the balance was encouraging, and even on Saturday morning, I was confidently attacking.
But in the first part of qualifying, the car's behavior changed – the rear tires lacked grip, especially in the fast corners. We haven't experienced such a change in balance during the weekend. Now, I need to carefully analyze the telemetry and understand what has changed.
The team has made good progress recently, and the feeling from the car is positive, so it's important to identify the problems and take measures tomorrow."
