Formula E: Robin Frijns leaves Envision Racing
Envision Racing and Robin Frijns have announced the end of their collaboration – although this is not the first time the experienced and quick Dutch driver has left the team.
Frijns raced for Envision from Formula E’s fifth season, i.e. from 2018, but at the end of 2022 he moved to ABT Cupra and then returned to the British-Chinese team in 2023.
During his time with Envision Frijns claimed two victories and stood on the podium 13 times.
“Over Robin’s six seasons with Envision Racing he achieved great results and delivered many excellent races,” commented Sylvain Filippi, the team principal. “It has been a pleasure to work with such a talented driver… He is distinguished by natural speed and the ability to deliver a quick lap when it really matters. He is a true fighter and has been a valuable member of our team.
But Formula E never stands still, and it is time for change. We will announce our line-up for the 12th season shortly.”
According to The Race, Envision informed Frijns earlier in the month that his services were no longer required; however Robin hopes to move to another team and will also continue to race for BMW in the World Endurance Championship.
Envision Racing plans to announce who will be Sébastien Buemi’s new teammate next season in early September.
