Isaac Hadjar will receive a new cup to replace the broken one.
When Isack Hadjar was celebrating his first Formula 1 podium in Zandvoort with the Racing Bulls team, he accidentally damaged the porcelain trophy that had been presented to him for third place in the Dutch Grand Prix, and we reported on that episode.
It can be assumed he will not be upset for long, since the organizers of the Dutch round of the championship have assured that Isack will receive a new copy of the trophy, which is already being made by the artisans of the Royal Delft porcelain manufactory.
"The trophies are made of high-quality ceramic and are hand-painted by our artists. Ceramic is a wonderful but fragile material and can crack from an unexpected vibration or physical impact," said a representative of the promoters of the Dutch race. "In this case the trophy was probably placed on an uneven surface. Pressure can then be distributed unevenly, which can lead to stresses in the middle of the trophy or at its thinnest points, and this causes cracks to form."
It is also emphasized that the organizers of the Dutch Grand Prix have awarded porcelain trophies to the winner and the podium finishers for three years running, but there had been no such incidents before, and Hadjar’s trophy is something of an exception.
Royal Delft is the famous royal porcelain factory, founded in the mid-17th century. The company confirmed that they are already working on a replica of the trophy, although it is not yet clear when it will be ready:
"Together with the Dutch Grand Prix, we, of course, want the third-place finisher to receive his deserved trophy. We will make a new trophy for Hadjar. When we will deliver it is not yet known, but we are already working on it. The broken trophy will remain with Hadjar, as it is also a reminder of that glorious moment."
The podium for the 20-year-old French driver was the Faenza-based team's first such achievement since 2021 and only the sixth in its history, which dates back to 1985, when Minardi F1 Team made its World Championship debut.
