Audi assures a 'tangible preview' of its F1 project.

"What to Anticipate from Us in Formula 1"

Audi has announced that fans will soon witness the brand's preparations for its debut in Formula 1 in 2026. The German automaker, which is acquiring Sauber to establish a full works team, made this statement during the launch of its innovative 'Concept C' all-electric sports car in Milan.

"Preparations for our entry into Formula 1 are progressing rapidly," stated CEO Gernot Dollner. "Just a few weeks after introducing our new design philosophy in Milan, another thrilling moment for the four rings is approaching. We are eager to provide all fans with a clear preview of what they can expect from us in Formula 1 starting next year," he continued.

There are speculations that the reveal could take place at the upcoming IAA motor show in Munich, although Audi has not yet confirmed any specific timing. The company will join Formula 1 with a complete factory team in 2026, building upon Sauber’s existing base in Hinwil.

Former Racing Bulls team principal Franz Tost has supported Audi’s strategy, particularly regarding driver selection. "The choice is excellent," he told Speed Week. "Nico Hulkenberg is performing exceptionally well, and Gabriel Bortoleto, who joined this year, is learning and has demonstrated strong performances lately. However, he may face challenges in the second half of the season with some unfamiliar tracks. But he is progressing well and will be prepared for 2026."

Regarding Audi’s prospects from the start in the coming year, Tost expressed, "I anticipate they will be competitive—not in the top three, but soon after. I expect them to rank between fourth and sixth among the teams."
